What I assume is “Last Train to Clarksdale” by the Monkees, as referred to in Rolling Stone’s obituary for Davy Jones. Or rather, what I assume the 22 year old hipster who wrote the obit thought he heard the lyrics to be, because he clearly did his research. Because not knowing the name of one of the Monkees’ most famous songs is how you give your last respects to Davy Jones - Maybe ‘Last Train to Clarksdale” was the underground title of the song before everyone else got into it.
Take the last train to Clarksdale and I’ll meet you at the bus stop
Show up whenever I think I have a Travelocity thing somewhere
Hurry up though, k?
yeah yeah yeah yeah
yeah yeah yeah yeah
Cause I have stuff to do later and it’d be cool to hang out
We’ll have a time together, but my ride’s here, though
yeah yeah yeah yeah
yeah yeah yeah yeah
I’ll be home again at some point, I’m sure
Take the last train to Clarksdale and I’ll meet you at the bus stop
We can make out at Starbucks and maybe talk or something
yeah yeah yeah yeah
yeah yeah yeah yeah
Take the last train to Clarksdale, I should get off Gchat now
My phone battery is dying and the world is a big confusing egg
yeah yeah yeah yeah
yeah yeah yeah yeah
I’ll be home again at some point, I’m sure
Take the last train to Clarksdale and I’ll meet you at the bus stop
Show up whenever I think I have a Travelocity thing somewhere
Hurry up already
yeah yeah yeah yeah
yeah yeah yeah yeah
I’ll be home again at some point, I’m sure
Take the last train to Clarksdale
Take the last train to Clarksdale
Take the last train to Clarksdale
*fade out*
